Initial Meeting The initial meeting to get acquainted with you and your pet(s) takes about an hour and gives your pet(s) time to become familiar with us, our scents, our voices. We complete information forms and service contract detailing your pet’s care, medical and behavioral history, likes and dislikes, favorite sleeping places, favorite hiding places, house care, vet, emergency contact specifics, and pick up your house key. Cost is $20 for this initial meeting. It’s a lot of paperwork, but pets can’t talk.
Visits Visits are individualized to your pet(s)’ specific needs. Feeding, water, medications, insulin injections, exercise, walking, playing, brushing, box cleaning, rain-phobic pets, thunder-phobic pets, toys and activities, cuddles and petting, talking, etc. We form a bond with your pet so he/she develops a sense of trust and security while you’re away. We also bring in the mail, newspaper, water plants, curb garbage and recycle bins, rotate interior and exterior lights, and open/close blinds to make your home appear occupied.
Costs Visits ranges from $15 to $25. Cost is determined by the number of pets and the amount of time needed to care for your pet(s). Most visits are $20/visit.
For pets needing Monday through Friday daily potty breaks or exercise walks, visits usually cost $15/visit.
Overnights in your home are $60/night. Usual hours 8:30pm to 6:30am.
Holiday rates: an additional $5/day is charged New Year’s Eve and Day, Memorial weekend Friday-Monday, 4th of July weekend, Labor Day weekend Friday-Monday, Thanksgiving and three days before and after, Christmas Day and three days before and after.
Standard Procedures Confirmation of all dates and times of scheduled visits is made via e-mail or phone call.
Daily written notes detail your pet(s)’ appetite, elimination and behavior. We’ll let you know if Boomer is pouty faced or full of energy or if Fluffy is a scaredy cat. Knowledge and recognition of physical problems are crucial elements of providing competent pet care—notes are made regarding limps, increased urination, coughing, ear scratching, etc. In our last note on our final visit, we remind you to call us as soon as you arrive home, otherwise we worry about your pet home alone. If we don’t hear from you, we continue to make visits until you do arrive home, or until we walk in on you in the kitchen in your pj’s eating a bagel.
E-mails from your pets or daily voicemail offer more immediate feedback on your pet(s). If Fritzie is 14 years old with heart problems and arthritis, you may request regular updates while you’re away from home.
Dear Mama Mikki and Daddy Ryan— We’re eating, peeing and pooping. Did we mention napping? And litter scattering? Haven’t hacked up any hairballs yet. Miss Maggie has learned our names—that way we don’t have to wear the stick-on name tags. We got treats yesterday so we think our attendant is ok. Time to nap again.
We love you, even though you left us, you heartless people, Abby, Vinny, Susie, and Mimi
Paw Script: Hope you enjoy your turkey day. Maggie’s gonna bring us mice! Playtime and dinner combined! Bet you hope we catch’em all,
Love and purrs, Susie Sweetie, Mimi Miffed, Vinny the orange cat who takes the orange pill, and Abby Affectionate
Extras Extra services are available at $25/hour. We can provide extensive plant watering, lawn watering, and errand running, waiting on the furnace repairman, pet taxi service to take your pet to the vet or groomer.
